Erik Nording 2021 Hunter Series Smooth Ruffed Grouse Tobacco Smoking Pipe 5466K

The inspiration for the Hunting Pipe 2021 comes from the Ruffed goose. The broad bowl on the 2021 Hunting Pipe reassembles the spectacular ruff of the Ruffed Grouse – and the vide stem, the beautiful fanned tail. The distinctive mid-brown stain allows the contrast in the grain to stand out in order to enhance the feeling of a feathery pattern. The 2021 Hunting Pipe comes in two finishes, a silky mat smooth version and a semi rusticated version. Both versions are fitted with our signature silver ring featuring the “N” Nording logo. The ruffed grouse, known as the king of gamebirds, is a very popular game bird in North America. It’s roughly the size of a chicken, unlike this pipe that’s in the lighter end of the 2.5 oz range. The name “Ruffed” is derived from the long shiny neck feathers. When the cock is defending his territory, or showing it off, these feathers are extended into a spectacular ruff which, together with a fully fanned tail, makes him look twice his normal size. An annual series meant to highlight and celebrate global conservation efforts, Nording’s Hunting Pipe line has been a mainstay in the Danish artisan’s portfolio since the 1990s, each year seeing a new design inspired by a certain game animal.
