Tortuga Rusticated (626) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe. The Savinelli Tortuga series is aptly named, “tortuga” being the Spanish word for tortoise. Each briar is marked not only by a tortoiseshell-patterned stem but also a domed, shell-like chamber cap. This example comes in the “626” shape, Savinelli’s signature bent Apple, offered here in a delightful rustication. Length: 5.43 in. Weight: 1.50 oz. Bowl Height: 1.67 in. Chamber Depth: 1.38 in. Chamber Diameter: 0.81 in. Outside Diameter: 1.49 in. Tortuga Smooth (673 KS) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe. The “673 KS” shape is Savinelli’s take on the iconic bent Bulldog design. While the overall profile remains true to the traditional English shape chart standard – marked by a paneled shank and tapered rim – the Italian marque has imbued it with their own stylized aesthetic. Most notably, the shank is triangular instead of diamond in cross section, a signature Savinelli shaping cue, and the bowl features some added plumpness about the base before tapering slightly toward the rim above the waist. It makes for a distinctly recognizable Savinelli pipe, replete with a substantial voluptuousness in hand, while still maintaining a strong degree of classic appeal. Length: 5.45 in. Weight: 2.00 oz. Bowl Height: 1.60 in. Chamber Depth: 1.34 in. Chamber Diameter: 0.80 in. Outside Diameter: 1.76 in. Arlecchino Smooth (111 KS) (6mm) Tobacco Pipe. In Italian, arlecchino translates to “harlequin” and refers to a specific dramatic role common in commedia dell’arte, an early form of professional theater originating in Italy around the 16th century. The arlecchino character was a comedic servant known for its physical agility and would often perform nimble, acrobatic stunts on stage even during the most mundane of tasks. Unlike other characters in a play, the arlecchino rarely contributed to the development of the plot but nonetheless was instrumental in the pacing and comedic entertainment of the performance. Savinelli’s Arlecchino pays homage to this artful archetype in this namesake series. The line is defined by a singular shape, the “111 KS” Billiard, and limited to only 1,000 total pipes. Each piece is finished in either a smooth, natural stain or a dark rustication, both paired to a technicolor mouthpiece of mosaic patterning that calls to mind the colorful, checkered costume worn by the traditional arlecchino. Length: 5.82 in. Weight: 1.84 oz. Bowl Height: 2.01 in. Chamber Depth: 1.60 in. Chamber Diameter: 0.83 in. Outside Diameter: 1.56 in. Pipe prices do not include the stand. Pipe stands out of stock.
