Mark Tinsky needs no introduction as one of the finest American pipe makers that ever practiced the craft. Not only prolific for decades, his versatility in so many shapes and styles is eclipsed only by his ability to select the perfect briar for the pipe he is making. His attention to detail is unrivaled and his drilling is spot on perfect with every pipe! Stamped with his name and “2016 WALNUT 6?? ” this is a Brand New & Unsmoked pipe. This “Chubby Tomato” (my words) is comparable to his Big Boy line with some modifications. The bowl on this handsome pipe is larger & deep. The slight bend lends itself to the custom ebonite slightly bent saddle stem!! The stem is as wide as the bowl with a smooth, open, and laminar flow draw that will make a superior smoker. I would not classify this as a “nose warmer, ” as it is a bit longer, but it certainly fills the hand as a larger tomato bowl. The briar is awesome. Tight grained up both sides of this handsome masterpiece & somehow straight sweeping vertical on the stem of the stummel!! How this pipe avoided flame for nine years is beyond me. Briarwood and Walnut Smoking Pipe with a Beechwood Inlayed Cap. The artisan’s goal in crafting this smoking pipe was to create a unique conversation piece that also allows for a contaminant free, smooth drawing smoke. The design is based on using the number one wood for smoking, Briarwood, and integrating a heavy duty Pyrex glass core in the draft. As a part of our Adopt Me! Category, this creation comes with some unique characteristics that fit it in to our lower cost section. This smoking pipe was handcrafted using vintage Italian Briarwood in the bowl and mouthpiece. The centerpiece is hand turned Walnut and the cap is inlayed with a blond and large grain Beechwood. The pipe’s dimensions are: Length: 5.75 inches Bowl Height: 1.5 inches As with any art that contains glass, even the heavy duty, thick walled, borosilicate Pyrex that we use, should be treated with caution and care. This one is a Antique New England American Hanging Pipe or candle Box W/Hinged Lid. The box is 18 1/2″ tall and the actual box is 13″ tall and 5 wide and I believe its made of Walnut wood and in really good shaped for its age and the only issue i found was the bottom is glued on so it probably came off at some point and was reattached and some cracks on one side at the the bottom corner (see last photo). This is probably one of the nicest ones I have ever found and I will also be listing a early hanging slide top candle box from the same estate.
