Shape Stamping: 185 (Iconic Voluptuous Bent Apple / Balloon Shape). Origin Stamping: Genuine Vintage “MADE IN DENMARK”. Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible vintage Stanwell Shape 185 featuring a factory-original bright silver-tone mount. The 185 is one of Stanwell’s most famous and comfortable Danish silhouettes, featuring a plump, full-bodied bowl that feels excellent in the hand. Crucially, this pipe features the crisp, vintage “MADE IN DENMARK” stamping on the shank and the “185” shape number stamped clearly on the side. This guarantees it was crafted during Stanwell’s original, highly revered era of Danish manufacturing before production was later moved out of the country. This pipe is pristine New Old Stock (NOS) from the private display cabinet of my former tobacco shop. It has never been smoked, never been filled with tobacco, and has been stored safely in a clean, climate-controlled retail environment. The original cardboard box was misplaced over the years, so the pipe does not include its original factory box. However, the pipe itself is in absolute showroom condition with a perfect rim, clean chamber, and pristine stem. A fantastic, unsmoked piece of authentic Danish pipe-making history. Gorgeous Unsmoked NOS 1970s Jobey Bulldog #200 Tobacco Pipe with Original Box & Sleeve made in Saint-Claude France by Butz-Choquin. This Beautiful Early Jobey made at the beginning of the 1970s until the early1980s. After the original Factory in the UK, once relocated to France production was taken over by Butz-Choquin, and it’s easy to tell with this absolutely Gorgeous classic Bent Bulldog. The Vulcanite Stem is Jet black and Sports the Gold Jobey Rondelle inlay. Stem can accommodate a 6mm filter, However I’ve included a New Removable Reducer insert for those that prefer a non-filtered pipe. Stunning Grain consisting of Straight along the Bowls and shank bottom, with dense Bird’s Eye Grain on the top half of the pipe, and finished in a Gorgeous Contrasting Walnut over black stain. Lightweight at just 36g. And an easy clench. The Original Factory Applied Carbon Chamber coating is fully intact. Original Box and Sleeve are included. Overall length: 5 9/16. Bowl height: 1 1/2. Yello-Bole gets unfairly lumped into the “drugstore pipe” category, but pipes like this are the reason serious American pipe collectors never write the brand off. This isn’t the Yello-Bole sitting in Grandpa’s tackle box. This is an Imperial Takedown, one of the most unusual and desirable configurations KB&B ever produced. The Imperial was positioned near the top of the Yello-Bole lineup, and the takedown mechanism is what sets it apart. Instead of a standard push-tenon, the shank separates with a precision threaded aluminum assembly that allows the entire airway to be cleaned while maintaining perfect stem alignment. It’s a clever piece of engineering that predates the obsession with military mounts and reverse Calabash systems by decades. They weren’t made in huge numbers, and far fewer survived intact. These earlier Yello-Boles were built alongside Kaywoodies during what many consider the company’s golden years. The briar selection, machining, and overall fit were substantially better than what most people associate with the Yello-Bole name today. Then there’s the shape. Liverpools are relatively scarce in American factory production to begin with. Most surviving Imperials tend to be billiards, bulldogs, or pots. A long-shanked Liverpool wearing the Imperial takedown system is an uncommon combination, and the proportions on this example are particularly elegant. It has a much more English feel than you’d expect from a mid-century American factory pipe. Come and take it. Mark Tinsky needs no introduction as one of the finest American pipe makers that ever practiced the craft. Not only prolific for decades, his versatility in so many shapes and styles is eclipsed only by his ability to select the perfect briar for the pipe he is making. His attention to detail is unrivaled and his drilling is spot on perfect with every pipe! Stamped with his name and “2016 WALNUT 6?? ” this is a Brand New & Unsmoked pipe. This “Chubby Tomato” (my words) is comparable to his Big Boy line with some modifications. The bowl on this handsome pipe is larger & deep. The slight bend lends itself to the custom ebonite slightly bent saddle stem!! The stem is as wide as the bowl with a smooth, open, and laminar flow draw that will make a superior smoker. I would not classify this as a “nose warmer, ” as it is a bit longer, but it certainly fills the hand as a larger tomato bowl. The briar is awesome. Tight grained up both sides of this handsome masterpiece & somehow straight sweeping vertical on the stem of the stummel!! How this pipe avoided flame for nine years is beyond me.
