UNSMOKEDNOS GEORG JENSEN SUPERB MADE IN DENMARK (1970s) Vintage Smoking Pipe. A very beautiful free hand sitter pipe with saddle stem by Georg Jensen made from a piece of briar with excellent clear grains. Most probably made in the 1970s, mint on all of its parts. Georg Jensen founded the firm 1954 in Denmark. Their production was around 2000 pipes per year following mostly Danish shapes. They were very well made with finishes to a high standard. Many limited editions and freehands were included in the production lines. The factory was closed in 2001. On shank : GEORG JENSEN, made in Denmark PIPE, 1773, SUPERB. On stem : “GJ” white logo mark on the side. Approximate Dimensions / Weight Overall Length = 138 mm (5.43″) – diagonal Bowl Height = 44 mm (1.73″) Chamber Depth = 36 mm (1.42″) Max Bowl Width = 41 mm (1.61″) Chamber Diameter = 18 mm (0.71″) Tenon External Diameter = 10 mm (0.39″) Weight = 51 gr (1.80 oz) Filter : no Stem : original, vulcanite This pipe belongs to a large collection of smoked and unsmoked pipes which has been commissioned to me for sale. Please examine the photos in the listing as they are part of the description. The items for sale are photographed using high resolution lenses from all angles so that you can make your own assessment. We have selected not to list uncleaned “as is” pipes, for the reason that important defaults may be hiding behind dirt, oxidation or cake. For this reason we prefer the long and tedious work of cleaning them before they are offered for sale. Oxidation is removed from the stems and then they are sanitized using pure alcohol. The stummels are carefully cleaned and then sanitized. Most of the cake is removed from bowl interior of used pipes, leaving a thin layer of only about 0.5-1.0 mm cake so that the pipes do not need to be cured from start. We will reply the soonest possible. All descriptions are to the best of our ability. Tobacco Pipes for the Discerning Esquire and Esquiress. This is a Premium Pipe from Savinelli and one that is never created identical to any other of the same series, nor will it be repeated. It’s a SAVINELLI 2012’COLLECTION’ Pipe in a gorgeous Straight Egg Shape. They are sometimes referred to as’Pipe of the Year’. Folks, these pipes represent the best of Savinelli Pipes and they are quite expensive. So please have a look at our price. It should pique your interest, at least a little bit. Savinelli have been making these pipes since 1985 and they bring out a new shape and finish each year. There is never enough to satisfy demand – many are snapped up in pre-orders and many become rare almost immediately. This one survived the usual frenzy associated with it’s release and has been in cotton wool for a few years. It’s a gorgeous shape and definitely an egg shape, but can be and has been confused and described as having a billiard shape. It is supremely smooth finished in a high gloss polish that feels like glass under the fingertips. The pipe generally is mid brown in colour with some harmonising lighter brown and honey coloured undertones. It exhibits some very, very fine Straight Grain, a small amount of Flame Grain and some pretty and ever popular Birds Eye Grain. Of course you can’t miss the gold coloured’2012 Collection’ plate embedded in the left hand side of the shank. There is some lovely accents on this pipe provided by a wide band of polished briar on the stem that is much lighter in colour to that of the bowl and shank. There is also a slender black band that acts in demarcation of the two colour tones. Then, engraved in gold on the left hand side of the stem is the SIGNATURE OF ACHILLE SAVINELLI SNR who in 1876 was the Founding Father of Savinelli Pipes as we know them today. He was also the pioneer who opened. Savinelli is a generational pipe making family going as far back as 1876. They have much to be proud of and today are the largest pipe-making family in the world. They provide a service second to none and craft excellent tobacco pipes that will stand with the best on the world stage. Today, they also make tobacco pipes for Stanwell, and quite a few other big names in the industry. They couldn’t possibly receive a greater compliment. If you own a Savinelli, you own a very fine smoking instrument. Enough said I think. This perfect piece of pipe-making art is supplied with its original gold coloured, Savinelli branded pipe sock, a quite sturdy and plush, blue felt covered Savinelli box, and a few balsa wood filters to help get you started.
