The broad bowl on the 2021 Hunting Pipe reassembles the spectacular ruff of the Ruffed Grouse – and the vide stem, the beautiful fanned tail. The distinctive mid-brown stain allows the contrast in the grain to stand out in order to enhance the feeling of a feathery pattern. The 2021 Hunting Pipe comes in a smooth finish with the signature silver ring featuring the”N” Nording logo. The ruffed grouse, known as the king of gamebirds, is a very popular game bird in North America. It’s roughly the size of a chicken, unlike this pipe that’s in the lighter end of the 2.5 oz range. The name”Ruffed” is derived from the long shiny neck feathers. When the cock is defending his territory, or showing it off, these feathers are extended into a spectacular ruff which, together with a fully fanned tail, makes him look twice his normal size.
