SMOOTH OLIVE WOOD FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE KIT. Bartlomiej Antoniewski was born on 17 May 1961 in Przemysl; the capital of polish pipe. The choice of his career was determined by his fascination with briar; its beauty and the variety of grain and sculptural opportunities it offers for carving pipes. He has been making briar pipes, accessories and miniature briarwood sculpture since 1987. From 1985 to 1986 he worked under Ryszard Filar a well-known and highly regarded master craftsman, creating new models of carved pipes. In this way he contribute to continuing nearly a hundred year-long tradition of pipe craftsmanship in the town of Przmysl. Besides classic shapes, the pipes he created include those decorated with animal and floral motifs as well as abstract and geometrical forms and motifs to do with hunting. His pipes are made from high quality mediterranean briar, while mouthpieces are made from acrylic, cumberland and ebonite. Since 2008 he made a revelation in the carving of sculptural pipes. Brilliant concepts and strong three dimensional ability bring his pipes in the category of the best. He even made some customised box for some of his pipe together with fitting tamper. This shows the intense interest of the artisan to create and to enjoy with briar. Here, you are watching some of his best works during last years. SMOOTH VIOLIN FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE KIT WITH STAND AND TAMPER. Marco Cascia was born in Italy. His passion for the smoking pipes was founded about 27 yeas ago at Florida and with the age of 9. Later on he carved his first pipe (for his personal use) with Bamboo. Finally his great interest and passion for smoking pipe bring him into the way of briar carving. Since that time he was tried to invent and carve different style of pipes. During his life he has always continued to design and invent new shapes and types of smoking pipes. He is always looking for new techniques to get even better results. He carves different shapes of pipes; each pipe however has its own unique character, which makes it different from the others. His smoking pipe production is low and around 50 pipes per year because he mostly put his great attention on what he carves. His pipes are charming, masterfully carved and perfectly balanced. In the case of material he is using the old Italian briar root, Olive wood, ebonite and sometimes cumberland for the mouthpiece.

DRACAENA FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE. Petr Kucera (1958) was only seventeen when he bought his first pipe during the summer holiday and thereafter his destiny was determined. He has not left pipe since that time. Smoking pipes have accompanied him through his entire life. After his 50th birthday his handicap not allows him working in his prime job. Because he smokes pipes since his 17th he decided met his dream – making own pipes. He has his workshop at village Voznice near Prague and hammers away the pipes. His teacher were first of all of course master Jan Kloucek and the next one Tomas Mahovsky. He makes the pipes only one year, however, they have great success because are really rare. He invented his own shapes and unique rustic “honeycomb” or “leopard”. Recently he visited for the first time notorious Danish pipe shop in Copenhagen. He presented them his pipes very uncertainly. But for his astonishment they were delighted and took all his pipes on sale. So Petr is the first Czech pipe maker which gained the Mecca of the famous Danish pipe markers.

SMOOTH-ENGRAVED SKULL SMOKING PIPE WITH CUSTOMIZED BOX. Darko Milovanovic is from Cacak, Serbia, 36 years old. On 2011, for the first time, he was introduced to the world of smoking pipes. He officially started to manufacture his own pipes by the first of 2012. He was starting to think that he is able to manufacture his own smoking pipes, after successful restoration of few old ones. Making the first pipe was a tough job as Serbia has not so much pipemakers, so he had no one to teach him. Since he was without any experience with wood processing or use of the most basic of tools, he was learning how to make a smoking pipe and how to use the tools at the same time. Correspondence with several pipemakers from neighboring countries was very helpful, Abi Natur – Canaan pipes, Domagoj Telisman – Dotter pipes, Daniel Mustran -ND pipes, Davorin – DMP, generously shared with him their knowledge and experience. After he made his first pipe he could not stop himself and then came second and third and so on. “My love of the craft was getting bigger” he said. He gave the first smoking pipes he made on his own as a gift to his friends pipesmokers, but soon the interest in his pipes increased. His pipes are made of different materials, morta (bog oak) that he can find in Serbia, briar and olives from Italy, wild cherry, etc.. All of his pipes are produced completely by hand using the most basic tools, and the shape of a pipe is the current inspiration and is influenced by the very structure of the material from which it is made.

He has a degree in electronic engineering and he is currently working in transformer station maintenance. For years he was interested in Hi-Fi electronics especially tube electronics and he is specialized in audio amplifiers developing them from scratch into fine pieces of equipment that are able to produce music with emotion and accuracy. Aboriginal sagas and stories are for thousands of years passed from generation to generation by dot-paintings.
