Tsuge #551 Bent Sand Blasted Tobacco Pipe Gorgeous unsmoked. Has a 2 knuckle bamboo stem with reinforced acrylic bolsters at each end of the stem for superior stem strength. Dimensions: It’s 6 1/2″ long, roughly 2 1/4″ tall, the bowl is about 1 3/4″ deep, inside the bowl is roughly 3/4″ wide, the bowl width is approx. Developed for the purpose of overseas export under the concept of Japanese Taste. The weight is trimmed to the limit with bamboo stem used for the shank. In order to make all shapes in the setter style, the weight is rigorously calculated. Briar and bamboo stem vary across the ages, but especially the bamboo stem that exhibits a tasteful deep amber glow created by smoke. To strengthen the bamboo stem, a black acrylic reinforced ring is mounted at the shank end face. This is one of them, and one that would make the perfect gift – A Brand New Mastro de Paja FREEHAND Straight 8 Panel Sandblasted Briar Pipe finished in traditional walnut and lighter brown tones. This is a stunning Tobacco Pipe. It is completely HAND-CRAFTED and you don’t need to look at it too long to understand it has been created by one of Mastro’s top artisans. It’s different and certainly unique, but not so different as to be eccentric, or a bit on the wild side. This 8 Panel Shape is gorgeous and have a look at the grain patterns folks – outstanding! The blast has uncovered some truly unique and quite intricate grain formations. The symmetry achieved on this piece is also outstanding. The Mastro is indeed The Master of Italian Pipe Making. At just 31gm (1.09oz) this is a lovely, light pipe – not quite a featherweight but nonetheless very light and very comfortable in the hand. Notice the square shank which is smooth polished on the left hand side and underneath, with just a bit of smooth polishing towards the shank face on the topside and right hand side. It is fitted with a shiny black fishtail style acrylic mouthpiece, with some beautiful accent work at it’s shank end, matching the colour tones of the stummel. A gorgeously grained pipe from Luigi Viprati who used only extra grade briars of incredible quality which he often accompanied the digging crew into the hills of Tuscany, ascertaining that he could really get the very best of blocks. Started pipe-making in 1972, he became a full-time artisan pipe carver in 1982 and had never look back since then. Definitely one of the best, his breathtaking sandblasts and extreme bent shanks left me speechless. Even this 1-Clover smooth bowl with sterling band had me falling in love to the extent of just keeping it in my cabinet. Excellent briarwork with quality Italian craftsmanship. The internal of bowl was not coated to let you see what he really mean in his briar business. Bowl(height 4.5cm/width 4cm). Chamber(dia 2.2cm/depth 4cm).
