This is Rusen Rusenov aka Rusi Smooth Cutty pipe. Chamber size: 21×38 mm conical chamber. The bowl is made of Algerian briar. Many many top pipe makers use this briar and think it’s the best. And I agree with them. Algerian briar is always well-cooked, dry and smokes very cool and tasty. I use only natural products for the finish of my pipes – this ensures that no harmfull or chemical rasins or coating is used. The final finish is pure Carnauba wax that is a bio product. The stem is made of quality German acrylic. The pipe has absolutely perfect engineering. Precise drilling of the air chanel and the stemm wich is drilled with conical chanel, and ends a deep and wide V – slot. Wide and deep V-slot in the stem polished inside. Polished shank bore and polished stem bore. No space under the tenon in the mortise. A pipe cleaner is well passed through into the bowl. Every Rusi pipe have delrin tennon and delrin insert into shank , that assure that even after years of use , the pipe fut will remain same , exact and will not loose or tight. It is posible even to open the pipe hot , without make any harm on the fit. The inside of the pipes air chanel and stemm , is carefully polished and have no edjes , and that assure dry and easy draw , without interupting the air flow , durind the smoke. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago IL. As a young man and high school student, I studied all aspects of the various trades, which consisted of: building construction, wood shop, automotive technology, small scale 3D design, electrical, and plumbing. After high school, I worked for 6 years in various trades including but not limited to: construction, custom woodwork, painting, and remodeling. One night, by chance, my ex-girlfriend and I were visiting her father, who was a good friend of Alex Florov. He was the first to introduce me to Alexs website, and through the night (and following weeks) I studied his work and determined I had a deep interest in attempting this great feat. Shortly after my initial mind blowing introduction to pipes I got in contact with Alex, and being a very generous and inspiring man he agreed to teach me to make pipes from the beginning to end of the process. He also created the horse drawn carriage logo for its English connotations. He later changed his own last name from Nielsen to Stanwell, a testament to his devotion to the pipes he made. Stanwell’s relationships with Danish pipe makers goes back to Sixten Ivarsson, who is considered the originator of modern Danish pipe making. Ivarsson was commissioned to design Stanwell shapes. In 1969, the factory was moved a town called Borup , just outside of Copenhagen to be closer to Ivarsson. Stanwell revolutionized the pipe world with his new factory; until its debut, very few pipes were exported from Denmark. It was the Stanwell factory that first began mass exportation of Danish pipes and first whetted the appetites of Americans and Germans for the Danish pipe. Today Stanwell produces around 300,000 pipes annually. Stanwell relies on designs from the great Danish pipe makers, from Sixten Ivarsson to Jess Chonowitsch from which they create their hundreds of shapes. This particular pipe has some striking grains on one side, around the bowl and shank, with birdseyes manifested on the thin rim. The other side has a wash on the bowl.
