New handmade smoking pipe made my Russian/Latvian pipe maker Alexandr Bondarev. The item is listed by craftsman himself. Briar, acrylic, Olive wood. The bowl is made of perfect briar from the most known briar supplier Romeo Mimmo, Italy. I love his briar, because it’s always tasty and always well cooked. The mouthpiece is made of top-quality German acrylic, which keeps color and shine much longer than other. As always, the engineering is perfect. I’m sure a pipe isn’t just “a bowl with a hole”, I pay great attention to engineering. The air hole touches exactly the bottom of the tobacco chamber, never higher. The tenon almost bumps up against the mortise. I margin fractions of a millimeter taking into account the material expansion because of heat during smoking and hot weather. The mortise itself is drilled with a flat-bottom mill instead of a usual drill to avoid cavitations inside the pipe. That kind of mortises don’t have to be cleaned regularly because there isn’t any gurgling or hissing. The air hole is perfectly centered at the bottom of the mortise. The air hole tapers smoothly without projections despite the fact that it was made sequentially by drills of different diameter. All projections are sanded carefully, and the air hole is perfectly smooth. The mouthpiece bit is relatively thin (about 4 mm), but the walls are not thin, so one should try hard to bite it through. The air hole slot is made in the shape of a deep cone to let smoke expand and hinder from burning the tongue. The usual price of similar pipe is. And this is one of my pipes. I was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and since 2017 I live in Riga, Latvia. I graduated from art school, studied math in SPb Technical University, and worked as a web designer and web programmer for 15 years. In 2011 I made my first smoking pipe and it became my favorite hobby, and soon my second job. I love my business and can’t imagine a better job for me. Any of my pipes meets very strict quality requirements. The drilling is always accurate. The stem bore and the shank bore always meet in one point, the shank bore always goes accurately to the bottom of the bowl, the tennon length always matches the mortise depth accurate to 0.2 – 0.3 mm. Of course, any of my pipes perfectly passes the “pipe cleaner test”. It means, you can put a pipe cleaner into the stem and it with well pass through the bore into the bowl. But my quality requirements are much more strict than a simple pipe cleaner test. The most important thing in pipe engineering is a button slot. I make a deep and wide V-slot, so the smoke goes to the mouth as a slow wide flow and doesn’t hurt the tongue. The bore of the pipe doesn’t have places of sharp narrowing and expanding, so the pipe has no problems with condensate. I sand the shank bore inside to remove any bumps after drilling. I do the same with the stem bore, and even polish it inside. I make very comfort mouthpiece button. It is little rounded to match teeth bite, not too large and not too small. The teeth site of the stem is about 4 mm thin and about 18 mm wide – that’s the most comfort size I figured out after years of pipe smoking. It is bent egg smoking pipe with saddle stem. The pipe is 125 mm long (4.92) and weighs 40 g (1.41 oz). Chamber size is 19×36 mm (0.75×1.42). You may return the unsmoked and undamaged pipe if you contact me within 14 days after receiving it. If you receive the pipe damaged, just contact me within two days and send me photo. If the bowl burns in less than half a year. Or if the pipe breakes through my fault, you are welcome to choose any of my available pipes for replacement or I will make the same pipe for you. This pipe is listed by the craftsman himself. This is Alexandr Bondarev Smooth Horn. The pipe was made in June 2017. The bowl is made of Italian briar from the most famous briar supplier Romeo MIMMO. Imho, MIMMO briar is really the best for smoking pipes. It’s always well-cooked, dry and smokes very very tasty. The stem is made of high quality German ebonite. 168 mm (6.61). 19×40 mm (0.75×1.57). The pipe has absolutely perfect engineering. Wide and deep V-slot in the stem. Sanded shank bore and polished stem bore. No space under the tenon in the mortise.
