SMOOTH OLIVE WOOD FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE KIT. Bartlomiej Antoniewski was born on 17 May 1961 in Przemysl; the capital of polish pipe. The choice of his career was determined by his fascination with briar; its beauty and the variety of grain and sculptural opportunities it offers for carving pipes. He has been making briar pipes, accessories and miniature briarwood sculpture since 1987. From 1985 to 1986 he worked under Ryszard Filar a well-known and highly regarded master craftsman, creating new models of carved pipes. In this way he contribute to continuing nearly a hundred year-long tradition of pipe craftsmanship in the town of Przmysl. Besides classic shapes, the pipes he created include those decorated with animal and floral motifs as well as abstract and geometrical forms and motifs to do with hunting. His pipes are made from high quality mediterranean briar, while mouthpieces are made from acrylic, cumberland and ebonite. Since 2008 he made a revelation in the carving of sculptural pipes. Brilliant concepts and strong three dimensional ability bring his pipes in the category of the best. He even made some customised box for some of his pipe together with fitting tamper. This shows the intense interest of the artisan to create and to enjoy with briar. Here, you are watching some of his best works during last years. Creativity, way of finish, absolute harmony in shape and structure, surprising designs are just some of the characteristics of his brilliant works he earned during some decades of pipe carving.

SCULPTURAL FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE KIT. Gold Pipe creations are a collaboration of three artisan; Artur Miciak, Pawe Kulan and Mariusz Wawrzkowicz. The beginning of the Przemysl smoking industry goes back to the 1870s. In Przemyl, as we know, the history of the Polish pipe began. These three pipe makers are the originators and creators of the Golden pipe workshop which is created in 2013 and although the metric is short in comparison with other companies of this type, they have more than twenty years experience in working with pipes. They created the whole laboratories by themselves from scratch, to final creation. They combine the old methods and techniques with a bit more recent technology, creating all the necessary equipment and machines and they own models of pipes, but at the same time they have remained faithful to traditional art, because they want each object created by them at the recipient to make an exceptional and original impression.

SMOOTH FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE KIT. Manfred Hortig was born on 02.23.1951 in Lüchfeld, near Neuruppin, in Germany. After graduating from high school, he learned auto mechanic and then he studied cultural sciences after passing his military service. By the end of the GDR he worked in various cultural fields and during this time he was enjoyed smoking pipes. Later on, he changed his career and was trained as a surveyor and worked in this profession. His retirement was carried out in 2012, since then he runs this so called “hobby”. He shapes the majority of his pipes almost exclusively on the grinding wheel, the belt sander and hand with the Dremel and tons of sandpaper. He rarely uses the lathe. This technique he has maintained from the outset, since they correspond with my definition of “handmade pipes”. After his retirement, he starts making his own handmade smoking pipes in a professional way by using his great designs, high quality materials and subsequently he combines these elements with his graceful taste to carve some very interesting pipes. So far, he designed, carved and finished about 200-250 of these little “art” pipes and his artworks have been highly appreciated by the friends, smokers and other pipe makers. This of course a kind of joy and job together for him. In the case of materials, he uses mainly briar, but also bog oak, olive wood and ebony for the mouthpiece. Most of his pipes are engineered with 9 mm filter system but he is also carves the smoking pipe with out filter. As a result of one of his other hobbies – painting and graphic – he makes for each pipe an exact “drawing” that can be done on request. He is also able to prepare the flyer from the whole process (from beginning to the end) as an extra artwork.

DRACAENA FREEHAND SMOKING PIPE. Petr Kucera (1958) was only seventeen when he bought his first pipe during the summer holiday and thereafter his destiny was determined. He has not left pipe since that time. Smoking pipes have accompanied him through his entire life. After his 50th birthday his handicap not allows him working in his prime job. Because he smokes pipes since his 17th he decided met his dream – making own pipes. He has his workshop at village Voznice near Prague and hammers away the pipes. His teacher were first of all of course master Jan Kloucek and the next one Tomas Mahovsky. He makes the pipes only one year, however, they have great success because are really rare. He invented his own shapes and unique rustic “honeycomb” or “leopard”. Recently he visited for the first time notorious Danish pipe shop in Copenhagen. He presented them his pipes very uncertainly. But for his astonishment they were delighted and took all his pipes on sale. So Petr is the first Czech pipe maker which gained the Mecca of the famous Danish pipe markers.
